"Mini-Booklets, Tiny Treasures, etc."
This plain package contains four little booklets and other tiny
treasures that date back to my beginnings as a neurotic weirdo not-quite-a-‘zine
maker.
I got my start doing this in a very flexible art class run by a
brilliant and intuitive art teacher named Jack McCaslin when I was
an undergraduate Sociology major at James Madison University. Although
it was a "traditional" printmaking class, he allowed me
to use the photocopier rather than a silkscreen to do what I needed
to do.
I don’t know of any other art teacher who would allow someone
to do this, but he encouraged me to pursue this avenue even when
I was skeptical.
I don’t know where I would be today if it weren’t for
his help back then. Anyway, I’m usually embarrased of old
stuff I have made, but I’m still quite proud of these little
things.
